The Dance

Constant movement, constant change – a shift in structure but always the ability to return to the beginning. Nature, mankind………. Photography?
The dance begins, he, let’s call him nature, supports her, representing mankind, in a graceful but death defying lift in time with a building rhythm = technology. Yes, a dance, commenced at the beginning of time. At first nature performed a solo, then a duet as the mammal joined in, and today a group routine, as technology challenges and perhaps menaces the even flow of the step.
Photography finds strength in its power to communicate because this dance is ever changing. The mediums may change – from an etching in stone, to a chisel, from a pencil to a paintbrush, from a photo box to a digital snapshot, but this is only technology. The subjects remain the same. Nature either in a peaceful state or in distress, man made obstructions changing the face of the earth and the diversity and honesty of the humanbeing . Can a picture capture consequences? Or, does the image simply offer a beautiful dance waiting to be examined, explored and whole heartedly, felt.
